Dr. Nichols is the immediate past chair of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Board of Directors, serving from 2020-2022. She retired in 2018 as the dean of the Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has a master’s degree in management with a specialty in healthcare administration from Central Michigan University. Dr. Nichols received awards from the AOA and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. She was the first woman to serve as president of the AOA, the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Dr. Nichols authored the book, “Physician Leadership: The 11 Skills Every Doctor Needs to be an Effective Leader.” She speaks nationally on physician leadership, women in medicine and ethical dilemmas at end of life.
