Bono recently retired as Chief Health Officer for Viking, after safely restarting and sustaining cruising operations during the COVID pandemic. Vice Adm. Raquel Bono obtained her baccalaureate degree from UT at Austin and attended med school at Texas Tech. From 2015 to 2019 she serve as CEO and director, Defense Health Agency. Bono is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and has an Executive MBA. She is a Senior Fellow at Johns Hopkins University APL, a Regent of the Uniformed Services University Health Sciences Center (USU) Board and is on the Boards of Humana, Inc and Alcon.  Her personal decorations and recognition include Defense Distinguished service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal (3), Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executive Leaders (2019); 50 Most Influential Healthcare Physician Executives and Leaders (2018) and 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare (2018).
