Peter Attwater, MBA
Managing Director
BDC Advisors
Peter is a healthcare strategy and M&A advisor with more than 18 years of experience helping provider organizations navigate growth, integration, and transformation. He partners with academic medical centers, health systems, and physician groups to shape strategy, evaluate opportunities, and deliver results across the full M&A lifecycle — from upfront strategy and diligence to integration planning, synergy capture, shared services enablement, and long-term performance improvement. His work has included guiding health systems through complex consolidations and helping leaders realize the full strategic and operational benefits of partnerships.
Before joining BDC Advisors, Peter was a leader at Deloitte Consulting for 11 years, where he served as a firm-wide expert on M&A for academic medical centers and other providers. In that role, he advised clients on large-scale acquisitions, integration strategies, and enterprise transformation to help them achieve sustainable growth.
Earlier in his career at Triage Consulting Group (now R1), Peter gained deep expertise in hospital managed care contracting and revenue cycle operations, helping providers recover lost revenue and improve reimbursement processes.
Peter is recognized by clients for his collaborative leadership style, ability to translate complex challenges into actionable strategies, and commitment to building trusted, resilient teams.
He earned his MBA in healthcare, strategy, and operations from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, where he received the Founder’s Medal Award, the school’s highest academic honor. He also holds dual undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
