Dr. Erekson serves as the system CMO for Benefis Health System in Great Falls, Montana. BHS has a catchment area of over 275,000 patients and covers one-fourth of the state’s land mass proudly serving over 15 counties in central Montana. BHS is committed to providing excellent care for all, healing body, mind, and spirit. Liz’s grandparents lived in Billings, MT for over 40 years where her grandfather owned and built Pacer campers. Returning to the Big Sky state feels like coming home.

Dr. Erekson’s career has focused on improving healthcare, first in the work to develop meaningful quality metrics and then in health services research at the Dartmouth Institute where she first embraced the concept of “less is more” for better health. She has done extensive work in rural health care delivery, especially focused on obstetrical care delivery for both birthing and non-birthing facilities. At two large health systems, she led work focused on redesigning rural obstetric care delivery to better support the communities they served. Dr. Erekson excels at helping organizations make strategic decisions about programs and services including obstetrical care delivery, perioperative services and primary care and implementing these plans to best serve their communities.

Dr. Erekson received her medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Saint Louis University and a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Women and Infants’ hospital of Rhode Island/Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University and has been in practice since 2007. She remains a practicing surgeon specializing in urogynecology, pelvic reconstructive surgery, and menopause.
