Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer

Michelle is Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for John Muir Health. In this role, she provides systemwide leadership for John Muir Health’s two acute care hospitals and one acute psychiatric hospital, with oversight of hospital operations, clinical integration, care coordination, integrated care models, nursing leadership, nurse workforce management, patient care quality, innovation, and patient care best practices.

Michelle began her career with John Muir Health in 1991 as an endocrine staff nurse. Over the years, she advanced through leadership roles of increasing responsibility, including Director of Clinical Operations and Director of Women’s and Children’s Services. In 2018, she was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.

Michelle remains actively engaged in professional and community leadership. She is a past Chair of the Board of Directors for Hospice of the East Bay, where she continues to serve as a board member, and she also serves on the John Muir Health Foundation Board. In addition, she is a member of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL), and the East Bay Association of California Nurse Leaders and has been a Carol Emmott Fellow since 2018.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Samuel Merritt College of Nursing/St. Mary’s College of California and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Her certifications include Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and Lean Leader Certification.
